Geri <\/strong>lives in an orphanage. Final exams, applying to university, and becoming independent are waiting around the corner. School is going well, and she has a good head for studying. However, her way forward is complicated by her environment, cast a shadow on by drugs and unhealthy relationships.<\/p>\n

Director Tonislav Hristov<\/strong> casts his emphatetic gaze on this young woman, on the verge of adulthood. Last year, Hristov charmed the DocPoint Festival with another documentary set in Bulgaria, The Last Seagull<\/em>. Once again Hristov has found a fascinating protagonist, whom he portrays with warmth and without apologies. Geri goes to class, plays table tennis, chooses an evening dress, and talks about the past and the future.<\/p>\n

Geri is surrounded by caring adults and an older brother who grew up in the same orphanage, but bad boys and foreign lands are beckoning. As she doesn\u2019t have a childhood family, the dream of love and of a family of her own seem like good alternatives to university studies.<\/p>\n

The orphanage\u2019s staff have seen how history repeats itself when the children leave the nest. Can Geri get through her matriculation examinations, pass the university entrance exams, and overcome transgenerational trauma, or will her adulthood become a reprise of her mother\u2019s life?<\/p>\n
